Useful Information for Parents

Below is important information for parents to review.  Use the links above for more information on our coaches, registration, and for contacting us.

SWIMMERS CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Swimmers should always be respectful of their teammates, opponents and coaches
  • There should be no horse play around the pool.  General pool rules will be obeyed.
  • During instruction swimmers should listen quietly, and follow the directions to the best of their ability.

GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS DURING PRACTICES

  • Refrain from approaching the pool to encourage/instruct your child.  The coaches will do this during practice
  • Refrain from approaching the coaches during practice.  It is hard for them to coach the team, if they are conversing with parents/guardian.
  • If morning practices are offered, your child should attend one or the other.  Attending both is optional.
  • Smaller children should not be left at the pool for practice.  Sometimes they don't want to swim and coaches cannot be responsible for them and coach the rest of the swimmers.  Check with the coaches if you have questions about this.
  • Please help the coaches to do their jobs by minimizing communications with your child or with the coaches during practice time.  Your child will actually do better if parents/guardians are not in the immediate vicinity.

SWIMMERS AGE GROUP

A swimmer's age group will be automatically determined, based on his/her age as of June 1.

TIME TRIALS

The time trial is a mock meet and provides initial times for swimmers.  Coaches use these times for placing swimmers in the events for the first meet.  The times are also used as the baseline for swimmer improvement and recognizing personal best times. Six and under swimmers only swim free and back.  We will need volunteers for this meet, and it provides a great opportunity for folks to experience their volunteer role prior to a meet.

SWIMMING LESSONS

Red Cross Swim Lessons are available at Fermata Pool (Fermata Swim Lessons).  We encourage beginner swimmers that aren't yet able to swim across the pool by themselves to enroll in swim lessons in addition to participating on swim team.
